In the opening scenes of best-seller The DaVinci Code, a message is found in a crime scene. Among other things, the message contains some numbers that no one can figure out. No one, of course, except our hero, Dr. Robert Langdon. Without giving much away, Langdon quickly identifies the numbers as a famous mathematical sequence. This first time this sequence appeared, it was called mātrāmeru. But today it's better known for the name of the first westerner to study it, one Leonardo de Pisa, known as Fibonacci.
